Born in  Lecce in 1976 he graduates in Physics in  1998 in the Università degli Studi di Lecce with a thesis on "Magnetic interaction in semiconductor quantum wires".

Between 1998 and 2001 he is PhD student in the Physics Department of the University of Lecce studying the optical properties of organic molecules for applications to light emitting devices, and he obtains the title of Phylosophy Doctor in Physics, with a thesis on  "Optical properties of substituted oligothiophenes for devices applications".

In 2000 he is visiting scientist in Politecnico di Milano in the group of Prof. Guglielmo Lanzani to perform experiments of ultrafast spectroscopy on molecular films.

In 2002 he is  guest scientist of the Ludwig Maximillian Universität of Munich (Germany) in the group of Prof. Jochen Feldmann to study the emission properties of single polymeric molecules.

From October 2001 to July 2020 he is lecturer in the Engineering Faculty of the University of Lecce.

From 2004 to 2006 he coordinates the Optical Spectroscopy Laboratory of the  National Nanotechnology Laboratory (NNL) in Lecce.

In October 2006 he creates the Photonic Laboratory of the Dipartimento di Matematica e Fisica "Ennio De Giorgi".  The research activity of the laboratory is focused on the investigation of the optical properties of innovative materials for applications to  laser,  sensors and solar cells.

In 2009 he is awarded by the Italian Physical Society of the national prize entitled to Sergio Panizza "for the original results obtained in the investigation of epitaxial one dimensional heterostructures (Quantum Wires),  of conjugated organic materials and of semiconductor colloidal nanocrystals".

From August 2020 he is Associate Professor of Experimental Physics.

He is author of  more than 120 publications on international journals, two books  and co-author of four patents.
